The meeting began at 2:33 PM

We finalized our decision for our winter project and we have decided to collect donations to send coffee to service members in Iraq for Christmas. We are still looking into which particular unit we want to sponsor but more information will definitely be forthcoming as it is made available. This choice was made based on a controversy with Starbucks that ensued after the coffee producers declined a request to donate coffee to the troops stationed overseas. You may read the full story on our LiveJournal community at http://www.livejournal.com/community/parkland_gop/1941.html. It is an original idea and it is something that the troops will actually appreciate.

Our second major item of business concerned our fundraising efforts and the discount cards. We need people to start weighing in with names of businesses that they believe should be included on our discount cards. We only have twelve spaces open but all suggestions are welcome. Think of businesses that you yourself as a college student frequent and from whom youfd like to receive some discounts. Direct all suggestions and queries of our fundraising effort to our treasurer, Tim Zelgert (tzelgert@stu.parkland.edu).

We will not meet next Tuesday as it is Election Day. DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!! :)

We will meet on Tuesday, November 9 at 2:30 in the lounge area outside of D-165.

The meeting concluded at 3:35 PM.

As a side note, the LiveJournal community has been put up and can be found at the following URL: http://www.livejournal.com/community/parkland_gop. Anyone else feel that being persecuted by friends for being a young Republican college student is somehow un-American?

amen sista, and it's never going to end....Sometimes, it's really hard to stand up for what you believe in, esp when you're conservative, and the consensus of the place where you spend the majority of your time is liberal...ugh...
